TRIADS

Composers frequently use triads or combinations of triads to harmonize their melodies.

Let’s start with simple triads. We’ll alternate the minor major 7 triad and the quartal triad. Select the notes, then choose one of the triads from the list:

You can also use a different kind of triad for each selected note:

‘001 Vertical Triads’ will allow you to put a triad on top or on the bottom of the selected note at a chosen interval:

‘002 Based Triads’ will write the triad on the selected note and will add a note at a chosen interval:

You can also get mirror chords, in our case, mirror triads:

Maybe one doesn’t want any of the triads from my list or doesn’t want to choose from it. You can generate any kind of chord. We'll choose two extensions at the intervals -5, 15, for instance:

If you want to arpeggiate chords, you can ‘spread’ the notes keeping their length or fitting them to the initial length.

You can also change the octaves if you are not satisfied with the result. Let's put a note in the 3rd octave, one in the 4th, one in the 6th:

Or you can randomize the octaves within a range of your choice:
