PATTERNS

We have here scales, modes, melodic patterns and various ways to operate on them.

In the folders ‘Patterns From Chords’ and ‘Scales and Modes’ we have a long list of scales and modes.

In ‘Scales and Modes’, you can have the scale ascending and descending.

Or you can have the scale in random order.

Another plugin that may be useful is ‘1 to 12 Intervals’, with which you can build a pattern of your own.

If you want the length of a single note to be divided to a pattern, use ‘1 to 12 Divided Intervals’.

Or if you want to add the interval to the previous one, not to the selected note, use ‘1 to 12 Added Intervals’.

Or you can choose to add notes, not intervals. The relation between notes and the integers accepted by CAL:

C = 0; C# = 1; D = 2; D# = 3; E = 4; F = 5; F# = 6; G = 7; G# = 8; A = 9; A# = 10; B = 11.

We often need to transpose a pattern. For that, we have ‘1 to 11 Transpositions’.

Or you will be asked about the interval to be changed for each note.

If you’re not satisfied with the register of certain notes, use ‘OctaveByNote’ to choose a certain octave for each note of the selection.

Or you can mirror the pattern:

And ‘4 Custom Inverse’ will allow you to choose the lowest note of the inversion.

Use ‘Spread’ and ‘SpreadFitTime’ to separate the notes of a chord and ‘Gather’ to put the notes of a pattern into a chord. These are tools frequently used when working with both patterns and chords.
